Desktop Overlay with Linux (Ubuntu)?

is it possible to use DesktopOverlay even with Linux? I added the button D.O. but it generates only a new sheet - nothing else...

There is a Desktop Overlay icon and a Desktop Annotate icon. I am experiencing the same problem with the Desktop Overlay icon with my XP machine. I am not having any problems with the Desktop Annotate icon. You might want to check and see which icon you have in your main toolbox.

I am currently running AI personal version on a Mac and do not have Desktop Annotation or Desktop Overlay tools. Are these Professional version tools, or limited to Windows and Linnux? Thanks for any thoughts on this.
