Can it be done? Specifically, I was using a flipchart about combining sentences and showed my students the Grammar Rock clip of Conjunction Junction. It is on a Schoolhouse Rock DVD I have.
Am I able to get just that one "chapter" clip and embed it in my chart so it is seamless when I teach this next year?
(I am also curious if I can pull just a short clip from a science DVD from the curriculum, not have to show the whole thing, but not have to fast forward to the point I want)

I love Conjuntion Junction!!:D I actually make my 7th graders sing it..lol! I haven't tried that with a DVD, so I'm not sure about that, but I know you can download Schoolhouse Rock videos from TeacherTube and embed the video into your flipchart pretty easily. (now I'm going to go to bed with that song in my head:eek:).

As mentioned above, if the clips are on Teachertube, that would be your best bet.
As far as taking the clip off the DVD, that process is called "ripping." Most likely, it may be a violation of copyright, but I'm not certain.
Lets just say you wanted to go ahead and do it anyway ;) You could use a third party software to rip or extract the chapter you want. Some things that work are Handbrake, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. To get more specific than a full chapter on a DVD, you may need to actually use video editing software.
Another way is to use a screen capture software, such as Jing, Snag-it, Camtasia or possibly even the video recorder in Inspire. Your resolution will suffer, but it may be the most simple way to handle it.

I downloaded the School House Rock Preamble clip off TeacherTube and then I embedded it into a chart. Worked fine.

I didn't even think of Youtube or TeacherTube! Thanks for the idea.
And, thanks for the specifics, dkootman!
