Hi I am trying to add a link object, linking to a powerpoint file, thats straight forward :) , however how do I link it to a specific slide within the powerpoint file, when I need to do this on excel or word i normally add a #followed by the slide number, but this doesnt seem to work.
any ideas

Hi

The only way you will be able to do this is to take a camera snapshot of the "said" page and add it to your flipchart. As far as I am aware there is no way that AS2 will allow you to link to an individual page within ppt.

thanks for the response, thats a shame, I have a flash movei embedded in a number of ppt files that i want to just link to directly.
Could this be a possible development feature included in the next upgrade, I know its possible in word and excel, it would be quite useful thats all.
thanks

You could always link directly to the flash movies from the flipchart itself and thereby dispense with PowerPoint altogehter.

yeah thought about that, however the movies are embedded into the ppt slides already cant seem to get them as single files, if anybody know a way round this i would be grateful.
thanks

The same goes for ACTIVstudio f/c with and embedded video - is there anyway to separate out the embedded video and get it back as a video file? Guess who's lost his orig video and only got the embedded one in a f/c!!

Well I can answer for Activ files - they are basically zip files, and if you right click the file and select open with... whatever zip program you use, you can browse the files and extract individual videos etc... I use TUGzip which is freeware :)

As for the PowerPoint - you could try saving the PPT as a web page (in theory all the files should then be in a folder) I suppose it depends on how the files have been embedded... If it has been embedded as an object, you can right click on it, copy, and paste it somewhere else - works with video...

Other alternative is to rearrange your PPT using slide sorter so the slide you want to play is the first slide  Or, you could use the setup show feature to specify which slide the ppt starts at, then save it as a PPS (powerpoint show), so the slide you want plays straight away...

hi rob
thanks for that, unfortunately I have had no joy with saving them as a web page, it makes the slides dissappear which is even more weird, i will take your other suggesstion and do the pps, however i think it would be alot easier if i could link it stright in the 1st place
thanks

Is it possible to create a link object that opens up a certain page of a flipchart file?

You would have to save that flipchart page in the libary. Right click on your selected page one of the options is to add to library : page....

The other thing to do would be to save your individual page in the flipchart pages folder. [clap]

Yep....just assign an action to your item....

drop down arrow...
another page...
choose page...

Cheers Bill - is there also an easy way to link to a specific page which is located in a different flipchart file? Margaret (also thank you!) mentioned to right click on page and select add to library - when I right click the Add to library option is greyed out??

When you right click on the page to add a page to the library you need to have the resource library open and on either the collections or page folders and then you can save the page.

If you want to link to another flipchart's page you could insert a link & browse to that flipchart. Then add the page number you want the flipchart to open at in the command line parameters area. Then, when you run the link, the flipchart will open at that page.

It's easy.
Put your object (eg an image) on the flipchart page
Double click on it to bring up Object Edit selector menu.
Choose Properties (icon with red tick)
Choose Actions and click on drop down arrow at end of 'Do Nothing'
Choose 'Another Page'
Click Set button and choose the appropriate page to link to.

Sorry for delay on reply!!
