Okay...here's what is going on. I turned my board on this morning and my speakers made an awful squelching sound. (Since it was installed last November, everytime I change the audio/video cables from the computer to the DVD, etc. it would make a really loud noise when I'd plug it in or remove it. Since I am a new user, I didn't know that this was not normal.)

Then, I hooked my DVD player cables to the junction box. No sound played with my DVD--had picture, no sound. I have changed cables, DVD players, checked volume everywhere, etc. and I think the junction box audio/video jacks are bad. The only volume control I have when using the DVD/VCR is on the back of the speaker that is mounted to the wall. I don't know if this is normal either.

If anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions for me, please post. I have talked to tech support too and there may be a repair call in the works, but I am desperate for sound at this moment. I

My worse fear is that it is something really simple that I'm missing with this, but I've basically done all the troubleshooting I can and tried every avenue I could.

Thanks everyone....and sorry to post here but I couldn't find another forum where this might fit.

I had a similar issue three years ago when I inherited another teacher's board. After all of the loud screeching, I had to finally disconnect the speakers and use a set I purchased. I connected the new speakers directly to my laptop and that loud screeching noise stopped. I personally like my speakers better because they have a subwoffer (awesome surround sound;)). Sorry I can't comment on the junction box issue since I don't have one.

Most of the wall mounted speakers have standard RCA inputs on the back, which are usually Red and White. You can try a long RCA cable and go straight from the back of your DVD player into the speakers, this will narrow down where the problem is, and you'll have sound again (as long as the problem isn't the speakers).

As for the volume adjustment, it depends everything is connected.

On our height-adjustable +2s (version 2) there is a Promethean branded junction box on the side with a volume knob and selector for different inputs. Have only had one of these go bad, and that needed a warranty replacement.

On all our other boards we had them connected when they were installed so the sound goes DVD/Computer->Wall Plate->Projector->Speakers. That way you can adjust the volume using the projector remote control, but it depends a lot on the model of projector how much noise it introduces into the mix.

Hope this helps,
Mark
