We recently purchased a slateXR for an old board (black elliptical receiver at top left). The board obviously does not have wireless capability and because we wished to use the slate without the board whilst on field trips, the hub was recommended to us. It was excellent on the field trip but it creates a conflict when used with the board. This can be worked around but it still causes the board's calibration to be out. Tech. support tell me that the hub can't be plugged in to the PC as well as the board. Has anybody experienced this problem and is there a work around out there?

I have the old board and use the receiver that attaches to the circuit board on the back. It seems to work fine.

Are we talking about the same thing?

Does yours attach to the board or the computer.

Might be before my time...

We have the hub which attaches to the computer not the pod that attaches to the board. The pod I believe is what is now recommended and as you say works fine.

Hi

The reason the hub and board is conflicting is that they are using the same driver and the software does not know which device to look at for the Activslate. Therefore a pod will be needed.

Thanks Dan. I must get onto sales and find out why I was told that the hub would be the option for me!

Just to add to Dan's response, if you want to use the ACTIVslate XR without a board you can do this using an ACTIVhub. As Dan said, you can not have the ACTIVhub connected to a computer at the same time as the whiteboard. But if you have a whiteboard, either proACTIV or the ACTIVboard + ACTIVpod, you don't need the ACTIVhub.

sjhy - perhaps you will need a hub for your field trips when you have no board, but a pod for in the classroom to make your ACTIVboard RF enabled.

AirSkeeter - to clarify the difference between the hub and the pod, the ACTIVhub plugs into your computer and allows the use of RF devices (i.e. ACTIVslate XR and ACTIVote 2) without any whiteboard. ACTIVpod plugs into your whiteboard electronics and makes the ACTIVboard RF enabled, so you can use RF devices on the older boards that don't have RF embedded.

Hope this makes sense and isn't too 'engineer-speak'.

Lee.

You are speaking my language....thanks for the clarification!!

Do you have any idea about the extended desktop dilemna that I have?

I posted a few days ago but no response...

Sorry Bill, I can't help with that one. You'll have to wait for one of our software experts.

Hi Lee,

I've been following this kind of thread for some days, using activhub and activboard at the same time is not possible because it is conflicting with the software and driver, but is it not possible to do some changes on the resources of these two so that they will not have a conflict on the used of the software and driver?

Just wondering if possible, technically i don't know much about PC configuration

Thanks.

Hi jesi,

The original question was posted four years ago and our products have moved on quite a bit since then! The latest Activhub (it looks like a large pen drive) has no conflict with the board.
