When I want to record my lecture with my flipchart, the sound doesn't record. I have tested to see if the microphone works with other recording software. It does. This actually started with inspire 1.1... I just got the board and recorded with Activistudio. I have checked the settings for sound recording and have tried save the sound to flipchart and both,

Are you using the Sound Recorder or the Screen Recorder?

I got frustrated with the same bug in version 1.1. I downloaded Jing http://www.jingproject.com/ (free) and have been using that instead.
Since that problem had been reported in so many threads on this forum, I was expecting it to be fixed in version 1.2. I'm disappointed that it seems like we have to start all over and prove that it is not a user error but a really problem. I'm planning to download 1.2 today, so I'll let you know if it is still a problem for me as well.

There may be two issues being discussed in this thread:
Sound Recorder and Screen Recorder.
Screen Recorder audio problem should be sorted in 1.2. Can you confirm?

I too am having a problem with Sound Recording. It seems that it is related to Vista. I can record and play a sound using a microphone in Activstudio and Activinspire 1.2 on XP. However on Vista, I can't record and play back in either Activstudio or Activinspire.
A .wav file out of the Library will play. However, using Audacity and exporting the sound as a .wav file will not play at all in Vista.
So.... it seems that it is a Vista problem and nothing to do with Activstudio or Activinspire. Does anyone know what Vista needs?

I am having trouble also with sound in screen recorder. The screen shot shows up but no sound with it. Am I doing something wrong. I'm using inspire 1.2 and I click on the recorder (looks like a video camera) and it begins recording but when I play back (in windows media player) there is no sound. thanks, cvlpitre

Go to the M in the recorder program and select PCM from the Audio options - that worked for me

I am using Vista. So I bet it is a Vista compatibility problem. I am using the video recorder. I could record with Activistudio. I know about Jing and use it but was hoping to not have to do a work around. I have thought that I would record the using the video camera tool and use audacity to get the sound. but I like the jing idea better. thanks.

Me too in Inspire 1.3.15321 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. Trying to do full screen video capture. Note sound capture doesn't seem to work either. I am using a headset with built-in microphone. Same setup works fine on Jing and Screenr.com.
