View Full Version : Where are my flipcharts going in version 1.2?

I have now lost 5 of my flipcharts, buts it's a good thing I was smart enough to back them up before trying them out in the new version. There seems to be a glitch in the saving process. Every time the saving process fails the flipchart totally disappears from my computer. Sometimes during the saving process it will run it twice. The first time is very fast, but the second time it is much slower. I've tried making a flipchart from scratch to see if this problem goes away, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I am also seeing some glitches in the text tool. Whenever I type in some text and then try to move it, it will make a duplicate of the text, but in a different and smaller font. It also crashes sometimes when I try to put a colored background on the text using the color picking tool.

The only other problem I have is sometimes a page fails to load so the new version decides to replace them with a blank page. The pages that failed only had clipart, no sound files or videos.

I am loving the ability to play a sound file across more than one page. As a music teacher, this is a very powerful feature to have.

I am using a PC with Windows XP.

Hi,

Can you attach those original flipcharts please so we can look at them. In fact please attach any flipcharts that you are having issues with.

If you want to move text then use the select tool. However you have uncovered a bug in the drag copy text.

Can you repeat the crash for the text background colour issue?

when you're saving your flipchart are you using the keyboard shortcut? Try doing a save as from the menu next time & see where it is sending you, you might find the other flipcharts there.

I am having the same problem. I am using a mac with pictures I took using the camera tool. Once in a while I try to change the page and it says "There was an error loading the page, it has been replaced by a blank page." and I when I go back a page it is gone also. I close out of the flipchart and open it again and it is there. Other teachers are having this issue in my building.

Yes indeed, where have my flipcharts gone to?

'Upgrading' to v1.2 has resulted in 2 recent flipcharts disappearing TOTALLY - they did show up in the Recent Flipcharts menu, but clicking the link resulted in an error message showing the correct pathway but nothing there
Searching via Explorer finds the Folder but it is totally empty. The flipcharts are not in the Recycle Bin.
I am FURIOUS.... Hours of work LOST.
I have a hunch that re-indexing the Library may have been a factor in this disaster.

Until this is sorted I will be discouraging anyone from 'upgrading'.

And it's not only flipcharts that vanished :mad:
Some files I had moved into a Folder for creating a resource pack also disappeared :mad::mad:

POSSIBLE CAUSE.....
I upgraded, then worked on the flipcharts and files, THEN re-indexed the Library later.

QUESTION....
Should the Library be re-indexed IMMEDIATELY AFTER upgrading to prevent those interim files being lost?

I can't attached the original flipcharts because they have vanished totally from my computer. They don't show up in the folder that I have stored them in. I have tried doing a search on my computer and nothing pops up. I haven't used keyboard short cuts for saving. I have used the save icon in my tool bar and I have also tried going under file save and file save as, but it doesn't matter. The saving process usually always goes through the process twice. The first time is very, very fast and the second time is much slower. There seems to be a lot of hesitation in the second saving cycle. Sometimes it gets to 80% or 90% and then it crashes and other times it crashes as soon as the second saving cycle starts up. I will try to save the error message in a text file and share it on the forum the next time it happens. I am getting ready to make some changes to some of my flipcharts so it could happen very soon.

I am still getting the "page has failed to load. Inspire will replace with a blank page" message. Usually when this happens I just close the flipchart and when it asks if I want to save the changes, I just hit no. When I re-open the flipchart the original page is back. I had to do this a couple times during some of my classes this last week.

Similar problems here -- I am running AI 1.2 on a MacBook with OS 10.5. I have experienced both the "blank page replacement" problem, and the disappearing file problem. I have watched as AI crashed and then the file I was working with disappeared from my Desktop right before my eyes! It was not in the Trash and running a Find could not locate the file. It was just gone! This has happened multiple times. Any fixes out there?

this should be fixed in 1.2.14501
Can you check which version you have by going to the Activinspire menu & choosing about. It will show the full version number in there

Thanks, just upgraded to the latest version. Unfortunately I've got new problems now! I posted under the 1.2.1.14501 update topic though.
