View Full Version : Installation problems Version 1.2

I have been unable to successfully update from 1.1 to 1.2 through the recommended Check for updates route from V1.1 getting error code 1152. On another machine I then uninstalled V1.1 and attempted to install the Europe V1.2 from the Promethean software download page. This installation got so far then reported an error (with no description or code) and proceeded to roll back the attempted install.
I am running as administrator with Vista on a PC and laptop with all current windows updates. Is this just my bad luck? How are other users getting on?
I am really keen to see the improvements in V1.2 but at the moment I am stuck and need help!????

I have successfully upgraded on my school computer but my home computer is another story. I am checking for updates and it says I have the latest version which is not 1.2 (no search in resource browser). Is there a way to override and upgrade another way? I have looked through the forum and can't find a similar thread. Any help would be great.

Hi
That error code appears to be related to a problem unpacking the installation. Have you tried to redownload incase it was corrupted?
other advise given from various sites is to clean out your temp folder, and if running from a network to run locally

After spending some time trying to install version1.2 from check for updates I have finally succeeded but not until I tried turning off my anti-virus protection. This is far from ideal for users thus affected. Promethean please take note. +wave+

Hi
Could we please have the name of your Antivirus. It will be interesting to see why your particular AV has a problem with the downloaded package

On the MAC side, everytime I try upgrading from 1.1 to 1.2 from the Dashboard, I get this response:
Not Found
The requested URL /update/Inspire/update/mac/ActivInspire_Application_1_2_13903_MAC.dmg was not found on this server.
So I went ahead and went to the SUPPORT tab from Promethean Planet and went to SOFTWARE and went from there... it seems to be working this way, but it didn't require me to put in any serial codes or anything, so I can't tell if this is a brand new download or just an update on the software just yet... We'll see, but it does seem to be working off of the website, but not as a direct link from the Dashboard in the software. Just FYI. :o

Sorry about that, there seems to have been a little hiccup in the server! I have fixed this one, and the Mac Update should be available again now :)

When I select ActivInspire->About ActivInspire (on a Mac), it says I am on 1.2.13903.
When I "Check for updates" under "Help" or from the Dashboard, I get a window saying that 1.2.13904 is available. I click okay and an ActivInspire.pkg is downloaded. The install questions say this install needs 0 (zero) disk space. After the install "completes", Inspire version still seems to be 1.2.3903. Checking for updates again indicates 1.2.13904 is available...
So, is there really supposed to be a 1.2.13904?
thanks,
george

John,
As advertised, the update fixes the revealer problem and has a more reasonable version number. Thanks for working the weekend to get things sorted out![clap][clap][clap]
Now, back to making a package for the IT folks to use for their installs...:D
thanks again,
george

Ditto, you guys really got this challenge done quickly. Thanks sooooooo much. Is there any way I can put a plug in for the single "Delete" key on the Mac side? Fn + Delete is not very convenient for us mac users. When making flipcharts from the laptop it is very awkward to press those two keys instead of the single delete key.
Thanks for your good work, [clap]

Our school proxies are blocking the Promethean Updates. Can you please tell me the URL from which updates come, so I can put in an order to have the site allowed? Please do not send me the URL for this specific update. I want our users to be able to get them as they are released. We service too districts, one is PC and one is MAC. Just in case there is a difference in the URL.
Thank you.
If you go to activmanager, control panel and then options, you will see the URL for the internet upgrades.

Hi,
The same happened to me, but I clicked on the help tab and then check for updates. It worked well on both PC and Mac

Okay, now I feel really dumb. Where is ActivManger. I have looked under applications and system preferences. Obviously, no luck.
Thank you.

Ignore, my plea for help. I am not crazy. I called tech support, and for whatever reason, I do not have ActivManager even though I have the updated driver. Thank you for your time.

If you are working on a district computer that has low administrative rights, sometimes the Promethean Activmanager can not be found. On PC's this would be on the bottom right corner of the computer and on Macs it on the top right. It is a white box with the orange Promethean man - and you won't see this at all if your computer is on tight lock down. :( Sorry!!!
